gamesws1 A tribute to Game Producers in London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham

Games Workshop Group plc (often abbreviated to GW) is a British game production and retailing company. Games Workshop is one of the largest wargames companies in the world.Founded in 1975 at 15 Bolingbroke Road, London, by John Peake, Ian Livingstone, and Steve Jackson (later known for their Fighting Fantasy gamebooks). Games Workshop was originally a manufacturer of wooden boards and later became an importer of the U.S. role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, and then a publisher of wargames and role-playing games in its own right, expanding from a bedroom mail-order company in the process.

Main Tabs Image Olympic heroes from the past, present and future congregated at Hammersmith Town Hall last night (Thursday, October 30) for a special centenary celebration of the 1908 Olympic Games held at White City. One of the highlights of the evening was a special tug-of-war contest that took place between members of the Hammersmith & Fulham Rugby Club and the Met Police. This was particularly poignant as the Met Police team actually won the gold medal for Great Britain in 1908. The borough’s future Olympic hopes were represented by Jo Hutchinson, from W14, who has an excellent chance of representing Great Britain in fencing when the Games come to these shores in 2012 as well as competitors from the Borough's Youth Teams.

Finally The Olympic Torch Relay is just one example of the exciting events Personal Best programme participants can volunteer for. The relay celebrates the Games and brings their spirit to each country visited by the Olympic Torch; particularly significant for London as it prepares to host the Games in 2012.
